Toby the Beagle Strives with Glyde

It's Active Dog Month and we are excited for you to meet this sweet beagle, Toby. He's one #ActiveDog! But when he first arrived, he had a long list of health issues that made it look as if he would not be as active as his parents had hoped. Marilynn has been with us as a long-time believer in Glyde® Mobility Chews and the benefits it brings. Her sweet beagle needed a veterinarian's care for severe hip dysplasia. From there for maintenance and long term healing and improvement, her veterinarian suggested Glyde Mobility Chews for Dogs. Now, he's the active dog they knew he could be. We are thankful Toby is a #GlydeDog!

What is hip dysplasia? Hip and elbow dysplasia are the most common skeletal diseases in dogs. The good news is your dog can still live an active life, even with hip or elbow dysplasia. Some dogs have a variety of levels of issues, and it is recommended to visit with your veterinarian for diagnosis and treatment. We are so glad that Toby's treatment included Glyde. Here is what Marilynn told us:

"We adopted Toby from Seattle Beagle Rescue in August of 2019. He is from South Korea! So we don't know his exact age, but he's about 8ish now. The most loving pup EVER! No personality issues at all! He loves every body and fit immediately in with our other two beagles. Unfortunately, he had really bad hip dysplasia. Our veterinarian said it was the worst cases she has ever seen. We've come a long way, using several protocols to help him. We have him on Glyde supplements for the anti-inflammatory and Omega-3, which I think makes a big difference.

I walk my pups 5 to 6 times a week approximately 2.5 miles and most of the time Toby goes the distance. Sometimes he only does 1.5 miles and he just lays down to let me know he's ready to go back to the car. My vet is just astounded that he is doing so well considering how bad his hips are! He is a VERY happy boy and we just adore him to pieces!"

Surprisingly, many of our dogs might have mobility issues and we never know it. This infographic illustrates how some dogs have osteoarthritis (arthritis in dogs) at any age. The important thing to do is get your dogs on a prevention plan to help them stay active even longer.

Thanks to Marilynn for sharing her and Toby's story! We have a lot of Beagles who use Glyde to keep them active. Be sure to check out our article on Beagles
