Remembering Roman

September 26, 2018

Remembering Roman with GlydeParnell Living Science is honoring pets loved and lost as well as the pet adoption movement in the special event known as Remember Me Thursday. On Thursday, September 27, the #RememberMeThursday non-profit organization asks people to recognize their own pets they have lost. It also shines a light on pets waiting in shelters for forever homes and encourages the possibility of pet adoption.

Our Remember Me story comes from Karissa, the national sales manager for Parnell Living Science’s Glyde Mobility Chews. Before her employment at Parnell, she was a veterinary assistant at a local veterinary clinic. It was when she was working there she met this adorable little Chihuahua as a puppy. And here is their story:

“Roman was brought into the clinic as the runt of the litter and very sick. He had a collapsing trachea, and many more problems including liver and kidney function issues. We were able to nurse him back to health but I knew he would not get adopted because of and how expensive his health care would be. Our team thought he may live just a couple of years. I decided to adopt him thinking at least I could take care of him to have a happy and healthy life, if only for a few years.

Thankfully, Roman had something else in mind. He lived to be 10-years-old, thanks to the care he received. I remember when Roman was 8-years-old, I started seeing problems with his mobility. Even as a small dog, he was struggling with getting around. Picking him up to place him on the couch or bed wasn’t a big deal since he was less than five pounds.

After a recommendation from our veterinarian, I gave Roman on Glyde. I swear I saw improvements within a week of taking Glyde. Roman became a completely different dog. He was happier, more mobile, running and jumping again. In just a week, Roman began jumping up on the back of the couch to look outside the window and bark at the birds.

Unfortunately, our Roman passed at age 10. He died the day after Christmas. It was devastating for us. But I’ll always remember how the last two years of Roman’s life were as good as they could have been because Glyde was able to restore his youthfulness. He would even enjoy running and walking outside during what ended up being his final days. Roman was a blessing to us. Glyde was a blessing to Roman. I am such a believer, it’s easy to tell my story and now be part of the Glyde family!”
